Antje Stel

Antje Stel is a versatile painter who clearly depicts reality on her panels. She masters the genres of portraits of people and animals, landscapes and still lifes. From her youth she developed her drawing talent by following drawing lessons. She subsequently specialized in painting. The years of academic lessons she took with the master painter Cornelis Le Mair have shaped her as a traditional painter. The technique learned there forms the starting point for the construction of her portraits and still lifes. The lessons she took with the Russian impressionist landscape painter Alexander Savin form the basis for her landscapes. Through these courses, Antje has mastered various styles, which she gives her own interpretation to. Both elaborate portraits that show a striking resemblance to the sitter and abstracted landscapes painted with a rough, broad, loose brushstroke are part of her oeuvre. What stands out in her paintings are the attractive composition, harmony of colors and appropriate modesty. Her goal is to express 'The Beautiful' through the unity of color, light and shadow. The topics are everyday and recognisable to everyone. The end result is a powerful oil painting that suggests three-dimensionality. Her work is sold at home and abroad.

Further education: WIFAS (USA) and Flemisch Classical Art School (Bruges).
